Dictation for your Mac

…with no configuration to speak of.

Download

Free. Requires macOS 26 or later.

I made Ditto for myself, and thought you might like it too.

Hold the right ⌘ key, speak, and release. It puts your words where you’re typing, or copies them if there’s no text field selected.

By default, the transcription happens right on your Mac using Apple’s speech recognition. There’s no account to create, and no API key required. OpenAI can be used if you want it.

I’ve tried to make it considerate: pause and resume your music, leave your clipboard as it was after pasting, and stay out of the way when you’re using keyboard shortcuts.

It’s free, and made with care. I hope it saves you some typing.
